Proceedings of an ARLAC workshop on Decent Work for Migrant Workers: Governance and Integration conducted at the ARLAC Campus (Harare, Zimbabwe) from 28 Sept. - 02 Oct. 2015.

The objectives of the workshop were to:

  1. address the major issues face by migration policy makers at national, regional and international levels;
  2. review existing international legal frameworks, principles, guidelines and best practices on labour migration policy derived from relevant ILO instruments;
  3. address the important themes of decent work, promoting migration and development linkages and expanding international cooperation;
  4. gain understanding of the dynamics of labour market and its relevance to labour migration management;
  5. recognize the sovereign right of all nations to determine their own migration policies;
  6. advocate for policies and practical measures for promoting social integration and inclusion while respecting cultural diversity, preventing discrimination against migrant workers;
  7. emphasize the role of social partners , social dialogue and tripartism in labour migration policy; and to 
  8. advocate for gender sensitive migration policies that addresses the special problems faced by women migrant workers.
